lumerevia™ BoardSense Electronic Chessboard
The lumerevia™ BoardSense Electronic Chessboard is a compact connected game board designed for chess players who prefer moving real pieces but still want digital game recording, guided practice, and compatible online play. BoardSense combines a physical tournament-style playing surface with concealed piece-position sensing beneath every square, allowing the board to recognize moves as they are made naturally by hand. Players can use the board for face-to-face games, review completed matches on a compatible device, or connect to supported chess software without replacing physical pieces with a touchscreen.
♟️ Automatic Move Recognition
Sensors beneath the playing surface detect when pieces are lifted, moved, and placed on new squares. Players make moves exactly as they would on a traditional chessboard while BoardSense records the position digitally in the background, eliminating the need to enter each move manually.
🧲 Recognized Magnetic Chess Pieces
Each included chess piece contains a concealed identification element in its base so the board can distinguish individual piece types and positions. The weighted pieces retain a familiar physical feel while avoiding visible electronics, charging contacts, or illuminated components inside the pieces themselves.
✨ Subtle Move Guidance
Small edge-light indicators aligned with the board coordinates can provide restrained visual guidance for supported training exercises or connected games. Rather than illuminating every square, BoardSense indicates only the relevant file and rank positions, preserving the appearance of a conventional chessboard.
📱 Digital Game Review
Completed games can be transferred to a compatible phone, tablet, or computer for move-by-move review. Players can revisit positions, save game records, or use supported chess software for further analysis while keeping the actual playing experience centered on physical pieces.
🌐 Connected Online Play
With supported chess platforms or software, remote opponents can play against a user sitting at the physical board. The opponent’s move is communicated through the board’s guidance indicators, and the local player physically moves the corresponding piece before making their own response.
🔌 USB-C Rechargeable Design
An integrated rechargeable power system allows BoardSense to operate without a permanent cable running across the playing area. The USB-C charging connection sits along the rear edge, while a low-profile power and pairing control remains separated from the board surface.
BoardSense uses a thin square body with a rigid internal frame and a lightly textured playing surface divided into clean contrasting squares. The outer border is deliberately narrow, with softly chamfered edges and a smooth matte finish that makes the board feel closer to a premium physical game set than a computer accessory. The electronics remain hidden beneath the playing surface, leaving the top free from screens, button clusters, perforations, speaker grilles, microphone openings, or exposed sensors.
At home, two players can complete a traditional face-to-face game while BoardSense quietly saves every move for later review. A solo player can also connect the board to compatible chess software, follow a remote opponent’s move through the restrained edge guidance system, and continue playing entirely with physical pieces.
lumerevia™ BoardSense is designed for players who want the tactile experience of a real chessboard combined with useful digital recording and connected play, without turning chess into another screen-first experience.
